If you've ever shopped for an e-bike, owned an e-bike, or needed an e-bike repair, you've probably discovered that finding clear answers isn't always easy.
Every day, we receive phone calls, emails, Facebook messages, and in-store questions from riders across Richmond, Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey, New Westminster, Delta, Langley, Coquitlam, North Vancouver, and beyond.
Some questions are simple.
Others are surprisingly complicated.
After more than a decade serving the local cycling and e-bike community, we realized many riders were asking the same questions over and over again.
Questions like:
- How long does an e-bike battery last?
- Can I leave my battery plugged in overnight?
- Can you repair an e-bike purchased online?
- How much does a tune-up cost?
- Why did my battery suddenly stop working?
- Are fat tire e-bikes good for Vancouver?
- Is my e-bike legal in BC?
- How often should I service my e-bike?
- What's the difference between a hub motor and a mid-drive motor?
- Is it worth repairing an older e-bike?
Instead of answering these questions one at a time, we decided to build a single resource that covers the most common questions we hear every day.
Introducing Our 150-Question E-Bike Resource
We have compiled 150 of the most common questions asked by riders visiting our showroom and service department.
The guide covers:
- Buying your first e-bike
- Battery care and charging
- Motor and controller issues
- Repair and maintenance
- Tune-ups and inspections
- E-bike laws in British Columbia
- Range and performance
- Flat tires and brake service
- Online-purchased e-bikes
- Warranty questions
- Folding e-bikes
- Cargo e-bikes
- Fat tire e-bikes
- Winter riding
- Used e-bikes
- Safety and storage
Many of these answers come directly from real situations we encounter in our service department every week.
Why We Built This Guide
There is a lot of information online about e-bikes.
Some of it is excellent.
Some of it is outdated.
Some of it is written by people who have never diagnosed a battery issue, replaced a controller, repaired a damaged wiring harness, or serviced an e-bike after thousands of kilometres of use.
Our goal was to create a practical resource based on real-world experience helping local riders.
Whether you own an e-bike already or are just starting your research, we hope this guide helps answer some of the questions you may have.
